| Would You Name and Shame a Bad Payer? by agkennedy |
I have recently provided a client (outside Europe) shall we say with a lot of editorial and a lot of advertising and - he never paid me. Not after months and months of calls, claims, letters and emails. It's now a year later and still I am owed (over 8000 euro). I guess he had no intention in not paying Kennedy's and now I see his adverts and articles in other magazines that have not been warned. The company even had a stand very close to mine at Interpack, when they openly had not paid us.
I have a question to ask you? We published in good faith a good deal of information about this company and told you, the readers, about how good their equipment was and what nice people and so forth. Now, when we are completely sure that what we might have said was not entirely true - do you think we should publish their details and name and shame them in the magazine and online? We have not done this before as I have never had such a case, OK we all have them, that's business and it hurts right? But do you sit and take it or act with morals to warn the industry?
A magazine should be used to inform people about how to make confectionery and to keep up with the news of the trade. Perhaps not a personal debit collector or are we talking about very useful information and it's our responsibility to do something. Of course if we do this, the damage is ever lasting. I guess what I am asking is, - is this information important to you as, the reader and is it ethical to proceed with such a stance against a company?
I look forward to your response??
Or you can always email me direct on agkennedy@kennedys.co.uk
Thanks you in advance for your advise and for your experiences! I am sure mine is small compared to some. Is revenge right?
PS Its now 10th August and over 15 people have asked me to go ahead and even if not published they wanted me to privately let them know. Thank you I will send this info at the end of the week. Unless of course payment is made! I do believe in a miracle or two!
Best wishes
Angus
