UK-based Paterson Arran has launched Orang-u-tangys, a reduced-saturated fat jungle and orangutan themed shortbread snack with real fruit flavour and orange pieces.
Targeting the children’s biscuit market and aimed at children aged 5-12 years old, this tasty shortbread snack is believed to be the first portion controlled children’s shortbread product on the market in the UK. Orang-u-tangys come in three distinctive orangutan shaped bites and a quirky leaf shape with six individual 25g bags in a bright and colourful orange outer bag to maximise on-shelf appeal.
The shortbread snack is well positioned to capitalise on the growing consumer demand for ‘on the go’ products and healthier biscuits, containing only 0.4g saturated fat and approximately 113 calories per 25g bag. They are also palm oil and GM free and are free from artificial colours, flavourings, preservatives and hydrogenated fats.
Commenting on the launch, Debbie Ballach, marketing manager for Paterson Arran, said: “We are committed to developing innovative, great tasting products that are better for you. Our new portion packs help parents control the daily calorie intake of their children whilst providing them with a fun and tasty snack option.
“Prior to the launch, we undertook extensive product research amongst school children and the feedback was really positive. They loved the fun shapes and taste so we’re confident that they’ll be a big hit with consumers.”
