Ferrero confirms interest in Cadbury Print E-mail

Ferrero, the Italian confectionery company, has reiterated interest in joining the bid for U.K. chocolate maker Cadbury. Kraft shares were up 0.8% ahead of the news. Ferrero have issued a statement statement saying it is "still evaluating the possibility of acquiring the British sweets group," according to the U.K. Daily Mail online. Cadbury, in the meantime, has been fighting a hostile $16.3 billion  bid from Kraft. This offer stands until January 5th

Cadbury break free as new companies start to circle Print E-mail

More companies have now entered the scene and are circling Cadbury on the high winds. What they do not realise is that the shareholders are rather a different breed from what they previously expected. Kennedy’s reported that this would be no easy battle to acquire Cadbury two months ago and once again, it appears to be someone else’s turn to go for the prize - enter Hershey and possibly Fererro and Nestle as well.

Kraft have launched a £9.8 billion hostile bid for Cadbury. In a statement this morning Cadbury have said that the bid has been 'emphatically rejected', which is being put forward to its shareholders.

Deal or No Deal? As early as the October 09 issue of Kennedy’s Confection issue we predicted that this would be a quite a battle and it would not be entirely straightforward. Recent reports suggest that Kraft would need to increase its offer up to £9.00 (from £7.45). It currently looks as though they are not prepared to pay more than £8.00 per share. What with recent comments on Kraft remaining ‘disciplined’ by their CEO, Kraft’s bid may look like it is on the melt. It's unlikely the astute company that it is, that Kraft will go much over £8.00, which means that the deal is looking like it's increasingly likely not to go through.
