Mars and Nestle in World Cup marketing brawl Print E-mail
Wednesday, 02 June 2010
2nd June Mars and the English Football Association (FA) are reportedly considering legal action against Nestlé in a dispute over the latest Kit Kat brand advert and sponsorship rules.

Mars, the official sponsor of the England team, announced a five-year partnership with the FA in October. The confectionery firm is now in discussions with the FA to decide whether Nestlé is 'passing off' an association with the England team in its football-based 'Fingers crossed' advert now being shown on TV.

"I wouldn't be at all surprised if this ended up with legal action," a source close to Mars commented. A Nestlé spokeperson said that they "considered the matter carefully and do not believe we have infringed any third party rights."
