According to a Dow Jones report, Kraft Foods have named Jim Chambers, a former Cadbury executive, as its new President of Confectionery and General Manager for the Immediate Consumption Channel for Kraft Foods North America.
An internal memo detailed the appointment of the former President for North America at Cadbury. Chambers will now manage Cadbury brands such as Trident and Halls in the region, among other aspects of the newly integrated company, reporting to Kraft's current President of North America, Tony Vernon. Chambers joined Cadbury Schweppes in 2005 from Remy Cointreau, where he was President and CEO.
Kraft's ability to retain key Cadbury employees is considered a pivotal aspect in the ongoing success of the acquisition. Some experts say that combining businesses can be more difficult following a hostile deal, however 12 of Cadbury's 17 top executives have so far agreed to stay on. Kraft hope that they can generate sufficient growth and cost savings to justify the $19bn spent on acquiring the UK confectioner.
Although a number of Cadbury's most senior staff, including CEO Todd Stitzer, stepped down after the takeover deal was announced, others are staying on. Marcos Grasso, another former Cadbury executive, will become the Brazilian President for Kraft Foods, and Trevor Bond has already been named as President, Markets, for Kraft Foods Europe.
